Dancing with Parkinson’s online

Ascendance have re-designed their dance classes for the Parkinson's community to keep smiles on peoples’ faces during social distancing.  It keeps individuals moving in a fun, welcoming environment whilst safe relating.  Options are given to modify for various levels of mobility.

Professionally trained instructors guide movement which incorporate a range of styles from around the world.  The exercises aim to enhance and maintain mobility, flexibility, balance, posture, coordination and strength with creative input from participants if desired.

Tuesday 10.30am-11.30am
Thursdays 1.30pm-2.30pm
Fridays 10.30am-11.30am

Zoom guidance for joining on-line sessions or using our
on-line resources.

  • Ensure you dance space is clear from obstruction, are there any hazards nearby? including any bags, wires, furniture and pets. 
  • If using a chair, ensure that the chair is stable.
  • Have a drink to hand and take regular drink breaks during the session if required.
  • Have any medications to nearby
  • Wear suitable loose clothing that you can move freely in.
  • Have a telephone nearby you with your emergency contact stored.
  • Provide a current emergency contact for your dance leader to phone in an emergency.
  • Ensure that your tutor is aware of any medical issues that may affect your ability to take part.
  • Only do what you feel comfortable with, rest if you need to.
  • No recording of on-line classes or sharing without obtaining permission first with all members.
  • If you are practicing alone let your emergency contact know when you are excising at home and inform them if you have have any health concerns.
