On World Parkinson's Day (Saturday 11 April), Ascendance is heading on "Our Grand Day Out to Blackpool", a joyful celebration of dance, community and awareness on the iconic Blackpool seafront. The day will see participants, artists and supporters travel together from Leeds to Blackpool for an afternoon of dance, fish and chips, and seaside fun, raising awareness of Parkinson's and the power of dance to transform lives.

We've been delivering dance and creative sessions with communities across Yorkshire for 30+ years. We create joyful, inclusive, accessible sessions that support physical, mental and social wellbeing.
We run regular classes for over 50s (‘All Dance’ sessions), which are open and suitable to all, as well as dedicated sessions for people with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.
We also support older artist development, showing that anyone can be a performer, teacher, choreographer or leader, regardless of age or life circumstance.
Our performance company, FUSE DANCE COLLECTIVE trains together each Friday,
co-creating work that they perform across the region.
Our training programme for choreographers, ‘Signature Moves’, gives individuals the chance to explore and develop their practice through mentoring, residencies and the creation of work.

Our work has been recognised by One Dance UK, People Dancing, Digital Culture Network and on BBC Yorkshire, and we recently won the
Fantastic for Families Best Age Friendly Outreach Award.
