Izzy Brittain is an interdisciplinary artist, facilitator and performance maker.
She works with movement and word in diverse contexts to empower individuals and communities. She believes that the arts can and should communicate with and uplift the everyday realities of all people.
Izzy trained in dance as a mature student and became a poet in her late 20s, touring and performing with Transitions Dance Company to complete an MA after her degree at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
She now specialises in dance for older adults, including those living with Parkinson’s, and is Lead Artist for Dance On in Leeds, working with Yorkshire Dance to reimagine and deliver the programme post-Covid.
Her poetry has been published in poetry and illustration journal Popshot and the Bloody Amazing anthology. She is currently working on her first collection, still witches, under the mentorship of poet Rebecca Tantony.
Recent performance projects include Beige, a flash-mob style performance featuring 50 over 50s (The White Rose Shopping Centre) and intergenerational project To the Beat of a Different Drum (Family Encounters Festival).
Interdisciplinary commissions include The Book of Dave (The Turnpike) & Own the Crone (Apples and Snakes, ARC Stockton).
