Press Release:

60 Over 60s Dancers Join Together for Winter Celebration

On Monday 4th December 60 dancers aged 60+, both with and without Parkinson’s, will come together for a special Winter Celebration of dancing, socialising, and merriment.

The dancers, who are all part of Ascendance’s classes and projects which take place across Yorkshire, will showcase some of the pieces they have been working on this term, including a jazzy number to “New York New York” and a new Yorkshire-themed dance, “True Yorkshire Grit”, inspired by some of the phrases and sayings local to the area.

Ascendance Artistic Director, Rachel Wesson, says:

“Everyone has worked so hard this term, it’s brilliant to see people coming together and doing something positive for their health and wellbeing. Everyone supports one another. Expect top hats, glitz, canes and flat caps!”

The celebration is taking place at Morley Town Hall where an Ascendance group meet regularly on a Monday morning, with the groups’ performances at 12pm. You can find out more about Ascendance and how to take part by visiting their website: www.ascendance.org.uk
