join the board

We are looking for new people to help play a part in shaping our future by joining our existing Board of Trustees!

We’re Ascendance, a Leeds dance company who have been running a thriving Dancing with Parkinson’s Programme across Yorkshire and beyond to improve health & wellbeing through dance exercise, social interaction and performance driven projects. Our projects are far reaching, working across different settings including local community centres, care homes and through virtual events reaching more participants globally.

During the Pandemic, we transitioned all our classes onto Zoom and currently run classes every day of the week to keep everyone connected.  We provide an inclusive programme of dancing, singing and social activities vital to keeping our members physically and mentally active, alert and motivated.

The professional dance company have enjoyed working in site-specific spaces on a series of film and photography projects, including 360 VR community dance works and a mass performance participation project uniting different Parkinson’s Groups together from Leeds to Florida.

We want people from all backgrounds, communities, and experiences to be part of Ascendance both in terms of how the company is run and in the stories that we tell. We want to welcome some new people to join our existing board of trustees to do just that - to be part of shaping the company’s future.

We know that lots of people aren’t really sure what being on a board of trustees means or what the requirements are – so if you haven’t been on a board before, please don’t let that put you off! We’ve put together some information to give you an insight on what’s involved, and what we’re looking for, but if you’ve got other questions, we love to chat, so please get in touch.
