We're so excited to introduce Jenny to the Ascendance Community!
Jenny assists Emma with her dance classes at the SENSE centre in Robin Hood, a day centre for people with complex disabilities. Her sensitivity to people's individual needs has helped cultivate an atmosphere of safety and enjoyment for all attendees of the class.
Born in Yorkshire, Jenny trained in ballet from the age of 3 until 17, briefly at a prestigious dance school in Sussex, and with Dorothy Stevens in Halifax and Louise Brown as an RAD Scholar in York. She read Fine Art at the University of Wales, specialising in performance art, and then briefly came back to the dance world working with the Theater im Pumpenhaus in Munster, Germany, where she danced the role of Salome in 'Idol Love'. She left the dance world again for almost 2 decades, then coming back to ballet classes as a dance practitioner and to assist teaching ballet at her sister's Sussex ballet school.
During the day Jenny works as a graphics and virtual environments design assistant for a firm of engineers in Leeds. Jenny is also an artist and shows oil paintings inspired by the Yorkshire countryside at Gallery 42 and arts festivals around Yorkshire.
Over the next couple of weeks we're going to be sharing insights from Jenny on her work with Emma at the SENSE centre.
