Rachel Wesson has 23 years’ professional experience as a choreographer, dancer, lecturer and arts manager, undertaking a range of choreographic commissions and community-driven dance initiatives. She has undertaken a series of UK site-specific tours with Ascendance taking their repertoire to Libraries, Bookstores, Art Galleries, Cathedrals, Museums, Castles, Shopping Centres and traditional theatre venues combining dance, theatre, film and live music. Rachel developed one of the first Intergenerational companies with dancers from 5-70 years in her research project, which explored castle locations and challenged the idea of what a professional dancer can look like. Trained in delivering Dance for Parkinson’s classes, Rachel is now committed to facilitating a high-quality dance class programme, which puts health & wellbeing at the heart of the company, offering performance opportunities for her groups to take part in throughout Yorkshire. Rachel incorporates Tai Chi & Qi Gong practice into her work and has recently undertaken the teacher training course with Master Li during her time in Sydney, Australia.
